- Run To The Water - A Practical Teaching On Water Baptism
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Mark 16:15-16 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. Romans 6:3-6
Every born-again believer is to be water baptized - not just sprinkled with water, but to go completely under the water. The word “baptize” means to immerse or submerge; to bury. If something dies, you do not sprinkle dirt on it; you dig a hole and bury it. Water baptism is the beginning of the process of renewing the mind and the circumcision of the soul. It provides you with the answer of a good, clean conscience. Baptism in water signifies that you died with Christ, you were buried with Christ, and you are raised to a New Life in Christ. The old man is dead and gone; the past is past.
This is for new believers, and also for those who walked away from the Lord and who have come back. It is not merely symbolic, but is a point of contact for a new beginning – the old is passed away and the new has come – for bondages to be broken, and a powerful spiritual encounter with God.
Listen to this much-needed teaching and learn about this powerful ordinance that Christ gave the Church. Allow your faith to be stirred about water baptism, examine your heart, and run to the water.
